"World of Warcraft: Cataclysm" Launched this week

Published: Saturday, December 11, 2010

The third expansion set for the massively multiplayer online RPG "World of Warcraft" called "Cataclysm" has just been launched (official launch date 07/12/2010).

It has been two years since the last expansion set (Wrath of the Lich King) and has been eagerly awaited by WoW fans worldwide. The fantasty/science fiction game was developed by Blizzard Entertainment and is available for PC and Mac.

This expansion sees the return from Deepholm of Deathwing the Destroyer, the evil dragon. On his return through the dimensional barrier within Azeroth, the resultant seismic activity causes a great transformation of the kingdoms, reshaping the land which is home to the Horde and the Alliance. Players will be able to explore the re-designed terrain and will be expected to undertake quests, some of which will involve helping regions recover from the devastation brought about by Deathwing, in order to progress through the levels.
Apart from the changes to Azeroth, there are new combat mechanics, better dungeons and some improved graphics. Other new features include two new races, Goblin and Worgen, and five new levels. There is a new trade skill (archaeology) where players can dig up artefacts and earn rewards, new race and class combinations, new PvP Zone, rated battlegrounds and much much more.
With the release of the "World of Warcraft: Cataclysm" expansion pack the game is now considered to be much more sophisticated than when it first launched in 2004 and the redesign is eminently suitable for new players and WoW veterans alike.
