Single player is very good and I have yet to see a better looking video game than the gears franchise (Killzone 2 was good but just didn't cut it in my opinion).

Single player is again a joy and even better if played in co-op over Xbox live with a buddy. The omission of 4 player co-op was a bit of a letdown for most Gears fans, as this would have brought more energy into the new characters.

Most people would buy this game for the Multiplayer aspect of the game, Gears of War 1 was a landslide sleeper hit that the game developers apparently added at the last minute it topped the Xbox live charts for years until the hugely successful Halo franchise came out, with its 3rd person cover system gears of war 1 was award winning and had a huge online following.

So we will go back to the synopsis by Cliffy B Lead designer "BIGGER BADDER MORE BADASS THAN BEFORE" well this is a contentious issue at the moment at the time of writing this review it has had 3 online updates to rectify its problems which are well documented it struggles to get a foot hold on the Xbox live charts these days because of these very problems the online side of things if you read the Gears of War websites fans are not happy at all but you can't please everyone.

But there is a reason why this game is so cheap to buy these days it's because most gears players are flocking back to gears 1

Overall, I score this game 7.5/8 as the single player is excellent.

Having played the first gears I thought it was short and multiplayer was fun at times.

But this game improved it by 100%.
There are loads of new features like the 3 punch execution, taking bad guys hostage and a new match making system similar to halo3.

They have improved on the lagging which was at the first gears. and they included a new mode called horde which is very
hard if you even play on casual. This game has tons of replay value and you will be playing this until the next gears come out in 2 years time or so.

This is a must have game and this is the reason to buy a xbox 360.
