I havent played any ice hockey games for a number of years, but after the so-so demos for Fifa 09 and PES2009, I decided to take the plunge. Im so glad that I did as this is brilliant fun. The graphics and presentation are top notch as you would expect from an EA sports title. The excellent Be a Pro mode (available in all EA sports titles this year) is available an allows you to create your own pro or use an existing one to use for a campaign. You never feel out of place and the arrows telling you where you should be are easy to follow. You also get a lage array of league and national teams to use in all tournaments, leagues etc. You even have a choice of using the new analogue control system or the far simpler NHL 94 controls for the nostalgic amongst you. Naturally, you will get more enjoyment out of this if youre an ice hockey fan, but if youre tired of the same old football releases each year and you regularly play with mates online or on the same console, this is a worthy game...
